The purpose of the selected theme
for Forum 2009, "Leveraging Technology to Safeguard the
Public", is to bring together a diverse cross section of
military, industry, science and academic professionals to discuss
how we can best employ emerging technologies to improve our
abilities in the following major areas: UXO detection; avoidance
and clearance; conduct of safe scrap munitions screening; conduct
of cost effective and accurate residual risk audits along with
quality control and assurance. We are also interested in seeing
how industry, science and academia can assist UXO program stakeholders
with our communications in areas such as Web based project management,
stakeholder communication and briefings and other communications
with the public including issues of safety and "signage".
The Forum program will begin with exhibits
and an ‘icebreaker’ reception on Monday evening, May 11th and
the sessions will take place over two and a half days: Tuesday
(May 12) to Thursday (May 14).
Please check this Web site on
a regular basis for program and other information updates.
